Appeal from forty teachers and researchers from the University of Sassari to stop work on the Punta Giglio cliff.
In recent days a letter was sent via certified e-mail, not only to the Porto Conte Special Park Agency, but also to the Municipality of Alghero, the Sardinia Region and the Ministry of the Environment. The subject: «Considerations on the need for a more in-depth evaluation of the environmental and landscape implications of interventions to mitigate landslide risk on the cliffs of Punta Giglio».
In the letter, the teachers «join the arguments with which qualified Italian and foreign academic groups have called for the suspension of the works to carry out adequate preliminary monitoring and more in-depth technical-scientific evaluations of the crag ecosystem», urging a «suspension of the works, unanimously invoked by the scientific world, environmentalist associations and numerous citizens" in order to evaluate more thoroughly the environmental and landscape impact of the planned interventions and to weigh their real degree of indispensability".
