The urban regeneration project for the Santu Perdixeddu (Mulvoni) subdivision was presented in the City Council Chamber. This long-awaited project is destined to significantly improve the area's urban planning and infrastructure.
The meeting was opened by Mayor Walter Cabasino and Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Public Works Elisabetta Loi. During the meeting, the planners, together with the Technical Office, detailed the planned works, designed to address some of the subdivision's long-standing critical issues, particularly those related to traffic and stormwater management.
The project, which the administration has been working on since the beginning of its mandate, is part of the broader framework outlined by the Municipal Urban Plan and aims to achieve a comprehensive redevelopment of the urban landscape.
The main projects include resurfacing the road, building and upgrading the sidewalks—which will be wider and more accessible—and installing a modern and efficient rainwater drainage system through the installation of new drains and pipes.
Beyond infrastructure, the project also includes improving the quality of urban spaces, redeveloping currently degraded areas, and creating new meeting places. Special attention will be paid to public greenery and the usability of spaces, with the goal of encouraging outdoor activities, strolling, and socializing.
The project also includes the construction of an outdoor gym, with an inclusive fitness area equipped with sports equipment, designed to promote a healthy lifestyle and make it accessible to all age groups.
Work is scheduled to begin immediately after the Easter holidays and is expected to last approximately one year. The project will be financed with €1 million from the Autonomous Region of Sardinia and €100,000 in municipal funds. These resources are complemented by an additional €500,000, recently obtained from the Region, earmarked for new projects within the same development.
