Carles Puigdemont, the former president of the Catalan Generalitat arrested on 23 September at Alghero airport and released the next day, will arrive in Sardinia tomorrow morning.
The independence leader will attend the hearing before the Sassari court of appeal on Monday 4 October, which will have to decide whether to accept or reject the request for extradition of the Spanish judges, who also asked for the "immediate surrender" of Puigdemont.
The former Catalan president has meanwhile filed an urgent appeal to regain his immunity, currently suspended, as an MEP.
He will arrive in Alghero with his political and legal staff and will meet Agostinangelo Marras, the Sassari lawyer who will assist him in front of the college chaired by the magistrate Salvatore Marinaro.
Last Friday, the judges ordered the release of the politician, who lives in exile in Waterloo, Belgium, after a night spent in the Bancali prison.
Double demonstration on Monday in Sassari: in addition to the Sardinian separatists in support of Puigdemont, that of the Vox nationalists was also announced, with the presence of the deputy secretary Marta Castro.
The hearing, according to the independence leader's entourage, is set for 11, and the former Catalan president "for security reasons" will not release statements to the press present on the spot, neither before nor after.
At 6.30 pm, in the congress hall of the Quarté Sayal in Alghero, there will be a press conference, in the presence of the lawyers Gonzalo Boye and Agostinangelo Marras.
