Municipalities take the field in defense of the Pratobello 2026 motion.
The basis of Article 3, letter F of the Statute, contained in the Pratobello 24 bill currently being discussed in the Council, on the exclusive urban planning powers of the Region, with the addition of European legislation on nature restoration , which requires restoring the environment and the state of places to their original state, are at the heart of a project that could save Sardinia from the onslaught of wind and photovoltaic energy.
THE INITIATIVE - So far, the Pratobello 2026 motion has been approved in several municipal councils: Selargius , the largest affected town, was the first to do so; Ghilarza , a few days ago, was the last. In others, it will soon be presented to civic assemblies (such as Assemini , where the majority—as Mayor Mario Puddu reports—is trying to assess the situation), while in others, a wide-ranging discussion is underway, involving the Union of Municipalities.
THE CLIMATE - Rodolfo Cancedda , president of Asel , says the electoral climate is slowing the process . "In some towns, the motion is about to be discussed," he explains. "In others, where wind or photovoltaic projects are planned, the mayors are sometimes put under pressure . That is, if it is true that Pratobello 2026 is capable of blocking the proposed projects, the citizens contacted by wind and photovoltaic companies to use their land would be deprived of the economic benefits of the operation and would have to take action against the administration."
THE INVITATION - Selargius Mayor Gigi Concu, however, urges the Council to vote on the motion without delay: " This is a dutiful and necessary step to protect our land and put an end to the devastation perpetrated in Selargius. We trust this committed support will circumvent the obstacles of national legislation, which continues to allow permit applications for highly impactful facilities to be submitted with complete disregard for the needs of the communities and their administrators."
