An extraordinary popular participation: 210,054 citizens resident in Sardinia have signed in support of Pratobello '24 , the popular initiative law that aims to defend the Sardinian territory from the assault of wind and photovoltaic plants.

The Promotion Committee has announced that on Wednesday 2 October it will deposit the signatures collected in the offices of the Region, in Cagliari, and at the same time will organize a demonstration in front of the headquarters of the Region . The meeting is from 10:30 in via Roma 25, representatives of the various committees will be present.

A figure, that of 210 thousand signatures, which goes beyond the rosiest expectations. The initiative, the Committee recalls, takes its name from the famous antimilitarist struggle of the late 60s and was presented last July 27 in Orgosolo with the support of about thirty mayors. The signatures, certified with the collaboration of mayors, city councilors and certifying lawyers, were collected from August 1st to September 16th .

"We are faced with an exceptional result ," comments the mayor of Orgosolo, Pasquale Mereu , promoter of the initiative. "With a spontaneous mobilization, in the middle of summer, in 45 days, 210,054 certified signatures were collected. A figure of popular participation that goes far beyond our initial forecasts and sends a strong signal to politics: Sardinian citizens want to count in the decisions that concern the fate of their land ."

The aim of the proposed law, Mereu reiterates, "is not to block the energy transition, but to contribute to a transition that respects the territory and is in favour of the Sardinian people and not of multinationals".

« The Regional Council – is the appeal of the Committee – should respect the will of so many Sardinian citizens by setting a reasonably rapid time frame for the discussion of the bill ».
