Three sacrilegious church thefts in just a few days . Thieves repeatedly targeted the parish of Spirito Santo in Porto Torres, stealing two solid silver chalices used during religious celebrations and a pyx, a sacred vessel shaped like a cup with a lid, which contains the consecrated hosts , also made of precious metal.
"For us, they had great religious and emotional significance, a terrible gesture that deeply affected us," said the parish priest, Don Boniface Da . "I only say to the thieves: return what was stolen, objects that should be used only to serve the Lord ," Don Boniface continued.
In recent days, the church has been the target of repeated burglaries, including damage to the front door, where copper parts were stolen. The thieves reportedly operated in an area of the religious complex equipped with a video surveillance system, the footage of which has been reviewed by law enforcement .
