The emergency intervention of the fire brigade's diving unit was decisiveAn emergency response occurred at the Darsena dock in Porto Torres, where the fire brigade's diving team has been working since the early hours of the morning to recover and secure a Saturno fishing vessel that had struck rocks before reaching port.
The intervention took place around 1:30 a.m., when the Port Authority and the fire department were notified . The crews, one of which arrived from Cagliari, are working to keep the fishing vessel afloat. The vessel, damaged at the bow, had begun taking on water.
Divers from the Sassari and Cagliari Commands intervened by positioning lifting balloons to control the listing of the hull and limit the entry of water, thus preventing a sinking. A crane from the Cermelli company will lift the vessel and transfer it to the shipyard . The operations, also conducted by personnel from the Naval component of the Command, together with the team from the Headquarters and the Porto Torres Detachment, continue with video surveys to assess the extent of the leak and subsequent action strategies.
To prevent the vessel from sinking completely, crews are continuing to empty the hull, preventing further damage and a complete sinking . The operations are coordinated by the Porto Torres Harbour Office, with the Coast Guard also present.
