Porto Torres, the never used totem ends up in landfills: it was purchased with EU funds
It was supposed to be an information tool available to citizens and tourists, but it never came into operationPer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
It had to be an intelligent structure , an information tool that citizens and tourists could use to get to know the places in the city of Porto Torres to visit and the accommodation facilities where they could stay, as envisaged in sub-project B elaborated as part of the Strategic Ports Project.
Instead, the infopoint in Piazza Colombo, near the newsstand, an electronic advertising totem inaugurated in October 2015 and never put into operation , was removed after seven years and sent to the landfill .
Although elegant in color and design , the service has always been out of order .
It was funded under the European projects "Innolabs+ and Innolabs++" elaborated within the Cross-border cooperation program Italy - France Maritime 2007-2013, with the Province of Sassari in the role of lead institution in collaboration with the municipality of Porto Torres.
The multilingual digital information system had to project photos, videos, explanatory texts, itineraries and a practical service for obtaining further information based on QR codes for smartphones . None of this ever materialised. For seven years there was only a cumbersome structure that occupied an important part in one of the central squares of the city course, an electronic devilry that never worked properly.
Today it is just empty space and a waste of public money .
The Municipality has entrusted the transport and disposal work to the AAC social cooperative for an amount of around 2,350 euros.
