Exercises at sea with diving in front of the port of Porto Torres for the firefighters of the local detachment.
Training of the divers of the 115 teams carried out with the Siacs method, the Surface Powered and Controlled Immersion System, considered important for long interventions at the bottom of seas and lakes. This morning the preparation took place near the Ponente quay, the docking place of the Tirrenia ship, a stone's throw from the fire brigade headquarters.
The exercise which took place with the group of divers from Sassari, aimed at maintaining constant preparation for the use of the Siacs equipment, saw the entry into the water of a first operator who, after having simulated a supply problem of air from the outside, declared an "emergency" thus triggering the "rescue" phase with the second diver entering the water to help the first.
Due to its complexity of use, Siacs is a system that is not used for "normal" rescue interventions. This equipment is used for long-term interventions that require a considerable quantity of air.
