Structural failures, infiltrations and cracks in the newly built public residential buildings force the mayor of Porto Torres, Massimo Mulas, to sign the order for the evacuation and assignment of a new home to a family unit residing in via Puglisi.

The 49 ERP lodgings, owned by the Municipality of Porto Torres, handed over to the beneficiaries only in May 2019, have become multipliers of problems, with structural criticalities that put the safety of the families who live there at risk. Two apartments indicated in via Livatino and via Puglisi, which are particularly problematic, as shown by the preliminary report of the official technical consultant, filed with the Civil Court of Sassari on 7 July last.

The appraisal requests further safety measures to be implemented for the buildings, extending it to the entire perimeter of the buildings, in particular for all portions with terraces and verandas, including the first floor, together with the two residential units identified among the most critical. The mayor, on the basis of the hearing of 18 July last, in which the judge noted the urgency of making the buildings safe, ordered the evacuation of the accommodation in via Puglisi due to the risk of safety for the family.

The provision signed by the mayor establishes the assignment of another suitable home for two years and, therefore, the transfer of the family made up of 4 people to another public housing unit , owned by Area, also in the municipality of Porto Torres. A tortuous affair marked by a series of emergency measures.

On 1 March last, given the precarious structural conditions of the balconies, currently shored up, an executive order was issued for the interdiction of balconies to 23 residential units, while with the resolution of the council of 26 April last it was decided to promote the technical assessment estimate at the Civil Court of Sassari concerning the 49 apartments to verify the causes of all construction defects.
