Pedestrian hit on crosswalk ends up in hospital. The accident happened in via Sassari, near the intersection with via Adelasia, a stone's throw from the city center of Porto Torres. The person hit was an 83-year-old pensioner.

The man was crossing the road, he had almost reached the opposite side of the road, when he was hit by a Yaris, driven by an 84-year-old man.

Thrown a few meters ahead, the pedestrian suffered a wound to his nose and cheekbone, caused by the breaking of his glasses due to the fall. Fortunately, no serious head injuries.

The man – from Turritano like the driver – was conscious when the 118 emergency services arrived. Once stabilized, he was transferred by ambulance to the Santissima Annunziata civil hospital for tests. The driver of the Yaris was in shock and said he had not seen the pedestrian cross the road. He was subjected to an alcohol test, which resulted negative.

Local police officers were on site to carry out routine checks and direct traffic. The driver was also subjected to an alcohol test.
