Porto Torres, new sidewalks without ramps: "A nightmare for my disabled son"

" In the works for the resurfacing of the new sidewalks there is no invitation for wheelchairs for the disabled , it is not possible that we have not thought of it. I have a disabled son , but as always we will be forced to drive on the road, among cars, at our own risk and peril".
The protest comes from Michele Malafronte, one of the residents of via Benedetto Croce , one of the streets in the urban center of Porto Torres, affected by the works to fix the sidewalks where, it would seem, there is no ramp to facilitate the passage for those who have walking problems. "The works show some rather high steps at entrances or intersections - he adds - so much so as to make the sidewalks off limits for those who move in wheelchairs, with the risk of making dangerous maneuvers or having to go back".
The difference in height, in fact, is high compared to the road, a real architectural barrier, a threat for those who intend to move independently. "Unfortunately, those who do not experience my son's discomfort cannot understand - continues Michele Malafronte - for this reason it would be useful to make everyone see the city through the eyes of a disabled person".
