Porto Torres: large crowd at the Sardinian mask parade
The procession started from Acque Dolci and then continued along the seafront, via Mare, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, reaching via AdelasiaBetween two wings of the crowd, the parade of Sardinian masks opened and animated the Porto Torres seafront. Snare shooting, performances by small mamuthones, entertained the large audience present. In April, the parade included the Mamuthones and Issohadores of the Atzeni association of Mamoiada, followed by the Tumbarinos association of Gavoi, the ethnic cultural group Mamuthones of Samugheo, the Sonaggiaos and S'Urtzu of Ortueri, the cultural association Sos Titinnatos of Siniscola, I Gigantes of Sennori and the theater company I Barbaricini Ridicoli of Ottana.
The event entitled “Maschara” saw a long procession of traditional Sardinian carnival masks, starting at 7 pm from Acque Dolci and then continuing along the seafront, via Mare, Corso Vittorio Emanuele and reaching via Adelasia.
The event, organized by the Pro Loco of Porto Torres, concludes the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the first edition of the Turritano Summer Carnival. A traditional Sardinian mask festival that is part of the Turritano Summer program. Before the arrival of the mask parade in the central squares and along the street, the public was entertained with dances performed by the cultural association folk group Intragnas of Porto Torres.
