In the industrial port of Porto Torres, morphological and environmental investigations are underway on the presence of banks of Posidonia, aimed at verifying the feasibility of a floating photovoltaic park .

The project belongs to Ep Produzione, the company that manages the Fiume Santo thermoelectric plant, which through the “Ge.Co. srl” has started monitoring the seabed, near the Foranea dam, at the Antemurale di Ponente.

The solar panels can be placed on a stretch of the surface of the water, investigated in a first phase with a multi-beam integral with the boat, while in a second phase a small ROV, a remotely controlled underwater drone, will be used.

Ge.Co is carrying out the marine inspections on behalf of "Ramboll Italy srl", through the use of a nautical vehicle as a support unit, with all the necessary devices and precautions so that the naval unit and the equipment used are adequately signaled, according to the provisions in force on the subject, with tools that allow easy identification, in order to avert any dangerous situation capable of jeopardizing the safety of operations and navigation, avoiding risks for the environment and public safety.

The harbor master's office has granted an extension to the investigations into verifying the existence of Posidonia meadows until 20 December , with only the use of instruments, excluding the immersion of personnel. If so, any anchoring system for the photovoltaic panels would encounter a series of constraints and restrictions on the construction of the plant.
