The Carabinieri of the Porto Torres mobile radio unit rescued an injured female peregrine falcon "iuvenilis", about two years old.

Following a report from a citizen, the military recovered the bird in the Scala Erre area, where it was wandering around injured by some hunting pellets.

The presence of hawks in this area, the military points out, is very important for the balance of the ecosystem because it guarantees the non-proliferation of other species such as seagulls and crows.

Furthermore, a female peregrine falcon, if caught in the early stages of life, can be worth up to 5000 euros on the black market.

The falcon was taken to the Bonassai wildlife breeding and recovery center where it was entrusted to the care of veterinarian Marco Muzzeddu who will extract the pellets.
