From the Lungomare to the Villaggio Satellite neighborhood, some areas of the municipal territory of Porto Torres continue to remain in the dark , with street lamp posts that go out or lamps that project beams of light insufficient to guarantee an adequate level of safety. In some urban areas there are continuous power surges that put household appliances out of order .

For many residents it has become a real emergency. "It has also become problematic for the companies Engie Servizi and Enel Sole, managers of their own lighting systems," explains Mayor Massimo Mulas, "because despite their willingness to intervene, the contract we inherited is ineffective and shows too many limitations : in fact, it does not contemplate the replacement of the entire pole and it becomes complicated to replace a simple light bulb in old systems, because the parts are no longer available on the market." Some systems show a precarious state of conservation and many poles are dilapidated.

The problem, addressed in the city council, was raised by councilor Michele Bassu who speaks of " street lamps that turn off as if there was a phase that had entered protection or was de-energized ", he says "in other areas, however, the lamps work but the level of illumination is insufficient . Therefore, it would be appropriate to carry out third-party checks to understand what is upstream in the control units and power cabins".

The Municipality, in agreement with Enel Sole, has recently started the verification activity on the switched off light points, and will continue with the reconnaissance activities, through the replacement of the lighting fixtures between via Sassari and viale delle Vigne, and then extend to other areas, so as to make the systems more efficient where the poles are deteriorated. The company Engie Servizi is proceeding with the verification of the management of the interventions not contemplated by the project. "In Piazza Colombo , one of the areas of the city center that remained in the dark, - Mulas replies - we are trying to find a solution to intervene with another line, because there is currently none, so as to provide that area with a minimum of adequate lighting".

As part of the policies aimed at improving the efficiency and maintenance of public lighting systems and given the critical issues found in the perimeter that goes from Piazza 20 Settembre to Via Mare, the administration has allocated 150 thousand euros of the municipal budget for an intervention to implement the lighting of the area so as to also guarantee greater safety for motorists and pedestrians. Councilor Bassu also intervened on the presence of weeds and trees out of control in the Satellite neighborhood, a lack of maintenance that would favor the presence of mice and rats, which through the branches would reach the balconies of the houses. "We took care of the rodent control two weeks ago", the mayor specified "but given the presence of numerous green areas, some actions already included in the calendar are planned, including interventions with the aerial ladder".
