Illness on the Mega Express Four ship, off the coast of Porto Torres.

A 66-year-old French tourist was rescued by the Turritan Coast Guard who took care of the patient's safe transfer for medical evacuation. The operation took place this morning, at 8, while the ferry left the moorings from the Turritan seaport, about 2 miles from the port to head towards Toulon.

Having contacted the Captaincy operations room via radio on the international emergency channel, the ship was ordered to approach the port of Porto Torres in order to be able to transfer the passenger in calm waters via the Coast Guard patrol boat, sent to meet the ship. At approximately 8.15 am, the CP 810 naval unit, specialized in search and rescue, intercepted the passenger ship in the harbor of Porto Torres and carried out the transshipment of the 66-year-old.

The rescue operations ended at 8.20 am when the man, who disembarked at the dock of the Port Authority, was transported with an ambulance of the 118 service to the Sassari hospital for the necessary treatment, while the ship Mega Express Fou has been authorized to continue sailing towards the port of Toulon.
