Pain and dismay in Porto Torres for the death of Giuseppe Mannoni, the 57-year-old from Porto Torres, museum assistant at the Antiquarium Turritano and former councilor of the junta led by the mayor Beniamino Scarpa.
The man was found lifeless in his home yesterday morning. He had chosen not to get vaccinated and recently discovered he had contracted Covid-19.
For some days he had not answered calls from relatives and family members who, worried, alarmed 118.
The firefighters intervened shortly after noon and, receiving no response, forced access and the health workers found the man's body. The death seems to have been caused by a cardiocirculatory arrest.
A cordial person, many remember him for his passion for his work. Candidate in the Italia dei Valori group, in 2010 he was given the position of councilor for the budget, later assuming the responsibility for the Environment. Passionate about music, he was appreciated for his professionalism in the workplace. A few days ago he had tested positive for the molecular swab and the virus had forced him to the quarantine period.
Until his death in his home, alone. He had publicly disclosed his no vax theories on several occasions, particularly on his Facebook page. "Vaccines work very little," he wrote.
The museum's colleagues write: “Giuseppe has always been linked to the Antiquarium Turritano and the archaeological area of Turris Libisonis, a colleague and a friend, but above all a point of reference for many years. We all embrace the family in an ideal embrace in this difficult moment ". Next Tuesday the last farewell, at 3 pm, at the church of Cristo Risorto.
