One hundred soldiers of the Coast Guard will be involved in the prevention and control of the coast in the north-west of Sardinia to ensure free and safe bathing and use of the sea and beaches.

The "Mare Sicuro 2023" operation which began on 18 June will end on 18 September. In the field 70 men from the Turritan Captaincy and 25 from the Maritime District Office of Alghero, as well as 7 naval vessels between offshore units and coastal boats. The purpose of the activity, according to the provisions issued by the general command of the Port Authorities and under the coordination of the Olbia Maritime Directorate, is to prevent and repress all behavior contrary to the rules of navigation safety by means of checks at sea and on land, and to the rules set up to protect the legitimate uses of the sea and coast resources, also with reference to environmental protection.

During the preparatory activity for the bathing season, the collaborative relationships that the Harbor Master's Office has established with the local authorities have made it possible to confirm, also for this 2023 bathing season , the establishment of the health facility on the Asinara Island , managed by the medical staff of the Italian Rescue Corps of the Sovereign Order of Malta and started as early as 1 June, and the activation of a Maritime Authority station at the port of Isola Rossa starting next July, where they will assiduously present soldiers of the Port Torres Captaincy flanked by a naval unit with its crew to better guard the Gallura side of the Maritime Compartment which, with its 384 km of extension (from the beach of Rena Majore in the Municipality of Aglientu to the locality of Porto Tangone , in the municipal area of Alghero) is one of the largest in Italy.
