The Porto Torres City Council unanimously approved the award of Civic Merit to sports and martial arts instructor Paolo Algisi , a key figure for the city and for entire generations of Porto Torres athletes. The proposal, signed by City Council President Franco Satta, at the initiative of Councilor Antonello Murgia, received the full support of Mayor Massimo Mulas and the entire civic assembly. With this recognition, the City Council sought to recognize not only the technical and sporting merit of Maestro Algisi, but also his fundamental human, educational, and civic contributions.

The award document emphasizes that "Maestro Paolo Algisi represents an example of integrity and dedication, and his work has brought honor to the entire community."

The Municipality recognized Paolo Algisi's positive and lasting impact on the community, highlighting three key achievements in particular. Sporting excellence: over forty years of martial arts teaching, during which he has brought Porto Torres to the pinnacle of sport, with numerous regional and Italian titles, as well as prestigious world medals, including recent ones. Educational commitment: the design and launch of projects dedicated to promoting sports in local schools. Social value: the organization of free annual anti-bullying courses, offering young people tools for self-defense, self-control, and respect for the rules, with significant educational and social value.

By awarding Paolo Algisi the Civic Merit, Porto Torres pays homage to one of its most illustrious sons, recognizing his work as a pillar of memory, sport, and civic identity.
