Streetlights off and thieves who take the opportunity to carry out looting and vandalism. "An intolerable and dangerous situation" denounce the exasperated entrepreneurs of the artisan sector of the industrial development area of Porto Torres .

In various stretches of the roads that run alongside the companies there is poor lighting, a condition of lack of security which is favorable for carrying out daily thefts and acts of vandalism, reported several times by the companies. Around abandoned lots with unsafe sheds , along the road areas transformed into illegal dumps , where thinking about a development perspective seems difficult.

The municipal councilors of the Sardinian Action Party, Bastianino Spanu and Alessandro Pantaleo , intervened harshly to denounce the serious situation of the sector , underlining the urgency of carrying out a complete survey of the present criticalities. "It is necessary to activate virtuous procedures that involve several bodies, such as the municipality, the consortium, the port system authority and the province, so that with a united purpose it is possible to implement recovery actions such as the extraordinary maintenance of public lighting, green care and cleaning of the roads, strengthening the controls, also and above all in the light of the acts of vandalism and thefts which have occurred in the last period».

Lack of security requires an immediate plan for functional, environmental and technological modernization. "It is our belief that the commendable territorial marketing operations that the Industrial Consortium is carrying out must be accompanied by a substantial revision of the urban planning tool - the Sardinians underline - which allows, for example, to make it possible to set up activities that are not currently foreseen but which could in the short term be the starting point for a recovery".

Investors and large projects arrive if supported by favorable situations, if the areas become attractive and if the services are adequate and efficient. "The companies already established, the last garrison of productive activities in the city area - they conclude -, do not need promises but concrete answers".
