There are already 190 people at the starting line but the goal is to reach 200 registered. The mission is to do charity and wish a happy new year in the freezing waters of the sea at Balai beach.
In Porto Torres everything is ready for the 20th edition of the “New Year’s Dive”, and record numbers are expected. Among the participants, in addition to the oldest, Salvatore Delogu, who will turn 90 on January 25, and the former butcher Piero Tanca, 87 years old, there are also 26 minors and a female presence that exceeds 45 percent of the registered participants.
Most of them live in Porto Torres, but many come from Sassari, as many as 57, from Stintino, Sorso, Sennori and from the south of Sardinia.
The event has managed to gather participants beyond the Island, in particular from Monza and Bergamo, but there are those who come from London and Lyon, a success beyond the borders of Italy.
The kayaks of the Azen group will provide the backdrop in the waters in front of Balai beach, which will travel along the coast from Scoglio Lungo beach, for about a mile, to Balai bay.
The appointment is for tomorrow, January 1st at 10 am to wear the orange technical shirts and Santa Claus hat.
For latecomers, registrations will close at 7am on January 1st, while from 10.30am it will be possible to register on the beach.
