Porto Torres, a massive landfill site on Via Volta has been sealed off.

Materials of all kinds inside a courtyard of a private area , used as an illegal waste dump.

In Via Volta, in the urban center of Porto Torres , the environmental unit of the local police has seized a large illegal landfill of ferrous materials and scrap, disposed of illegally together with other plastic objects and pieces of wood piled up on shelves, among garbage bags, tools and paint drums.

Hazardous special waste in the open was identified by municipal officers under the command of Maria Caterina Onida, who had been monitoring the serious environmental situation for some time, repeatedly reported by some citizens.

During the checks, the local police also found mechanical parts in violation of current legislation.

The waste occupies a large private outdoor area, adjacent to other homes, a courtyard accessed through a gate overlooking Via Volta . This is a highly visible uncontrolled dump, from which samples of various types of waste were taken and reported to the judicial authorities for criminal investigation. Landfills, especially when uncontrolled, emit pollutants into the air, water, and soil, posing a threat to human health.
