He lost control of his car and crashed into a streetlight. The accident occurred in Porto Torres in the afternoon, around 4:00 PM, on Via Sassari, at the intersection with Via Migheli.
The 82-year-old man, driving a Citroen C5, was turning into the roundabout at Via Indipendenza in the direction of Sassari, probably feeling unwell and was unable to avoid the pole, which was damaged.
Following the forceful impact, the elderly man suffered several abrasions on his arms and a neck injury. Emergency medical workers, who responded to the scene with two ambulances, provided him with first aid.
The 82-year-old was taken to the emergency room at the Santissima Annunziata in Sassari for evaluation. Firefighters were also present to secure the pole and the road. Carabinieri officers from the Porto Torres branch conducted surveys to reconstruct the accident. Local police were also on site to manage traffic.
