Over 2,000 counterfeit toys were seized in Porto Canale by officials from the Cagliari Customs Office together with the financial police from the Cagliari Provincial Command.

The illicit cargo of 2,196 toys came from Morocco and was destined for Tunisia . It was intercepted during a customs check at the MITO terminal dock of the Canal Port, on a container ship arriving from Tangier.

These are toys from various well-known brands, very popular among children, which violate intellectual property legislation and do not meet the safety requirements set by European standards .

The Guardia di Finanza and the Customs Agency have strengthened their cooperation and signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen the fight against counterfeiting, a priority for the European Union . The joint operations focus not only on the interception and seizure of illicit goods, but also on dismantling the networks that facilitate the production and distribution of counterfeit products, which are often of poor quality and potentially dangerous to the health of consumers. Investigations have in fact been launched to identify the individuals at the source of this counterfeit supply chain .
