"Today's arrests confirm the analysis. Sardinian populist politics reveals itself to be silent once again."

Following the arrests of the alleged members of the gang that carried out the attack on the armored vehicles on the Aurelia on March 28 , Roberto Saviano returns to the storm that was unleashed after the publication of one of his videos on YouTube in which he claimed that the perpetrators were Sardinians.

The writer had also identified very specific areas of the island where criminal groups dedicated to robberies of armored vehicles were active: he had spoken of Desulo and Sassari . It was clear that he was referring to previous investigations that had already dismantled other gangs.

But his words had triggered an indignant reaction because the communities involved, Desulo in particular, felt they were being linked to a specific criminal episode, without any evidence to support it.

The names of the alleged members of the commando have become known, with the arrests carried out today. And none are from Desulo.

The Neapolitan intellectual defends his position with a post, in which he recalls that "the worst Sardinian politics accused me of defaming Sardinia". Instead, he claims, he was right.
