Twenty-five years in prison. This is the sentence issued at the end of trial ter for the kidnapping of the Bonorva farmer, Titti Pinna, against Giovanni Sanna, 52 years old from Macomer, the only defendant before the Assize Court of Sassari.

The Court, chaired by Elena Meloni with Valentina Nuvoli on the side, accepted the requests presented by the deputy prosecutor of the Cagliari DDA, Gilberto Ganassi.

According to the judges, Sanna played an active role in the band of kidnappers who, from 19 November 2006 to 28 May 2007, held the Bonorva farmer hostage before escaping.

Sanna's lawyer - Desolina Farris - had pleaded the strangeness of her client to the facts, asking for acquittal as, according to her, the proceeding against her client was "totally circumstantial".

The sentence of Giovanni Sanna is added to those already inflicted in recent years, and which have become final, on Salvatore Azzas (30 years in prison), Giovanni Maria Manca (28 years) and Antonio Faedda (25 years).

However, we will move towards a fourth process.

The Assize Court of Sassari, in fact, pronouncing the sentence today asked the prosecutor Gilberto Ganassi to formulate within 90 days the request for indictment against Michele Piredda, entrepreneur of Nulvi owner of the company "Anglona Costruzioni" for which he worked. Giovanni Maria "Mimmia" Manca, already definitively sentenced to 28 years in prison for the kidnapping of Pinna.

According to what was reconstructed in the various trials on the kidnapping, a Renault Kangoo van from Anglona Costruzioni was used by the kidnappers to transport Tweety Pinna to the Lochele sheepfold, one of the stops made by the gang immediately after the removal, to transfer the hostage to the hiding place of Su Padru, in Sedilo. For this reason, Piredda could be called to trial, who according to the accusations could not have been unaware of the kidnapping.
