Nuoro's traditional New Year's Eve concert will no longer be held in the central Piazza Vittorio Emanuele. The municipal administration, led by Emiliano Fenu, is aiming to bring a major national music star with a €200,000 investment—half its own funds and half regional resources—and has decided to move the event to Via Pertini, a wide commercial avenue that begins at the fire station and passes through the city's main shopping centers.

The decision follows a technical report dated June 25, when a designated professional updated the dynamic calculations for Piazza dei Giardinetti (which houses a covered parking lot at the end), imposing a maximum capacity of approximately 2,000 people . This number is deemed insufficient for a large-scale concert, which requires significantly higher capacity and ample safety margins. Therefore, Piazza Vittorio will only be able to host small-scale events.

Urban Planning Councilor Pino Arcuri explains that this is a necessary choice : "The current carrying capacity of the square does not allow for concerts with attendance exceeding 2,000 spectators. It is a preventative measure related to new technical checks. The engineer has advised against large-scale events." Arcuri also recalls that, following the tragic events in Turin's Piazza San Carlo, which radically changed the regulatory framework and safety procedures for public events, municipalities are required to comply with much more stringent standards, with particular attention to flow, escape routes, and the dynamic behavior of structures. For this reason, every assessment must be conducted with extreme caution. Other areas had been considered in recent months, but the final choice of Via Pertini was deemed the only one capable of offering ample space, evacuation routes, and simplified logistics for stages, vehicles, and the audience. The administration is now proceeding with the finalization of the executive project and security plan to ensure a New Year's Eve in style, this time away from the heart of the historic center.
