The red zone in Piazza del Carmine, Cagliari, must be extended. The results of the checks conducted in recent months demonstrate that increased surveillance of the area is necessary and that, at this stage, it would be wrong to lower our guard.

Alessandro Serra, Forza Italia city secretary for the Greater City of Cagliari, stated this in view of the measure's expiration date, scheduled for September 30th.

In recent days, the Carabinieri have ordered four new removals from the area under enhanced measures. This enforcement activity is part of a series of operations that in recent months have led to reports, arrests, seizures, and numerous removal orders in the area between Piazza del Carmine and Piazza Matteotti.

"What is happening confirms that the safety issue cannot be considered over . Piazza del Carmine and the surrounding streets must once again be fully accessible to residents, families, merchants, and all citizens. This is why we must continue along this path."

The red zone, Serra concludes, "cannot, of course, be the only answer: alongside the repression of illegal behavior, we need prevention, redevelopment, and social care. But as long as situations of degradation, drug dealing, and violence persist, it is necessary to ensure that law enforcement agencies have all the tools they need to intervene effectively and restore peace of mind to those who live and work in Cagliari's city center."
