Pellets are impossible to find in Sardinia, and those few who have them sell them at very high prices .

And the case ends up in the Public Prosecutor's Office following a complaint from Adiconsum Sardegna .

"The shortage of pellets in many areas of the region is leading to a sudden increase in prices in those stores that still have the fuel available, selling at much higher prices than usual," explains the association's president Giorgio Vargiu. This, he adds, is "potential speculation to the detriment of families," given that "pellets are not an accessory, but an essential product for heating homes during the winter months , which residents cannot do without at this time of year."

"Beyond anyone's responsibility for the delayed supplies to businesses in Sardinia, it is intolerable that someone would think they can get rich by exploiting families' need," explains Vargiu, announcing the filing of a complaint with the Sardinian Public Prosecutors' Offices in Cagliari, Sassari, Nuoro, Oristano, Lanusei, and Tempio, asking them to open an investigation into possible speculative maneuvers on goods .

A crime punishable by six months to three years of imprisonment and a fine of up to €25,822 for "anyone who, in the exercise of any productive or commercial activity, engages in speculative maneuvers or conceals, hoards, or acquires raw materials, consumer foodstuffs, or basic necessities, in a manner designed to cause their scarcity or increase in price on the domestic market."

A complaint will also be sent to the Antitrust and to Mister Prezzi , regarding any unfair practices to the detriment of consumers and for urgent and immediate monitoring of what is happening on the island with regards to pellets.
