The speed camera was noticed only at the last moment. The driver of a small car suddenly braked, hoping not to be caught speeding, but, almost inevitably, a pileup ensued.

A dramatic collision occurred this morning on State Road 131 near Santa Cristina , in the Paulilatino area. Two cars collided violently when the driver of the vehicle traveling toward Cagliari suddenly spotted a traffic police patrol with a speed camera set up in a lay-by.

The driver slammed on the brakes, braking sharply, causing the collision. Highway Patrol officers responded immediately, and 118 was immediately alerted. Initial findings suggest the driver did not suffer serious injuries.
