Paulilatino, at the equestrian events of the carnival knights with helmets and bodices
The committee tried until the very end to obtain, like the Sartiglia, the non-applicability of the Abodi decree: "We'll try again next year."Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
In Paulilatino, they hoped until the very end to be able to run without helmets and bibs during the races that will take place tomorrow, February 21st, and Sunday, the 22nd, on Via Nazionale. But in the end, their efforts were to no avail.
The safety expert, who has been managing the event for twenty years, presented his case to the Public Order and Safety Committee, arguing that the decree does not apply to events like the one in Paulilatino, where athletic horses are not used, as required by the wording in the Abodi document.
But this interpretation didn't pass muster, and the Paulese Riding Club, organizer of the event, had no choice but to comply with the regulations. "We are complying with the decision, but we will work throughout this year to ensure that our event doesn't fall under the Abodi decree and can continue as the historic and cultural event we know it to be. For this reason, we are appealing to the institutions," says the club's president, Claudio Bruno.
Tomorrow, starting at 3 pm, there will be around ninety riders taking part in the sa cursa a sa pudda, while on Sunday there will be over 120 riders taking part in the sa cursa a sas padeddas.
