At Porto Conte Park, inside the garden of Casa Gioiosa , you can admire the special and sustainable Christmas tree created by the imagination and skill of Patrizia Pinna “NINAcrea” , an artisan from Alghero who grew up working in the family manufacturing business, specialized in the knitwear sector that has dressed entire generations of Algheresi and beyond since the 70s. This time and have a knitted dress is a majestic century-old pine tree. The trunk, with a circumference of over two and a half meters, has been decorated up to three meters and thirty in height with the technique of yarn bombing , a bombardment of yarns recovered from the homes of Algheresi that are intertwined with fishermen's nets, agricultural cloths and other objects brought from the sea. «An installation that wants to be a reflection on the theme of sustainability and, at the same time, an attempt to unite the threads of tradition», explains the artisan-artist. The initiative at the Park was possible thanks to the support of Meet Sardinya: Opificio di Eventi which enthusiastically embraced Patrizia Pinna's proposal.
Patrizia's dream
«I would also like to cover the twelve pine trees in the Luther King Park , in Pietraia, the neighborhood where I live, – she reveals – involving the citizens. It would be a way to redevelop that green area, which is currently neglected, and offer the popular neighborhood an original artistic installation with great visual impact», continues Patrizia Pinna who had already tried to launch the original idea to the Municipality of Alghero in 2022 and is now trying again, for 2025. A fundamental part of her project would be the involvement of the community. Everyone could contribute with a small piece, to build a large knitted puzzle together. The neighborhood has already had an excellent experience in the recent past with street artists on the occasion of the creation of two large murals, which enhance the neighborhood and give a bit of color to the gray walls of the public buildings. The twelve pine trees “dressed” with the yarn bombing technique would add a piece to the redevelopment of the Pietraia neighborhood.
