Acquitted for not having committed the crime. The acquittal of Antonio Luigi Fiori, accused of the murder of Nicola Pasquarelli, killed three years ago in Sassari, was also upheld at the appeals court today in Sassari.
This is the decision today of the Court, presided over by Salvatore Marinaro, with Maura Nardin at his side, and composed of a popular jury.
In the summary trial, Fiori, for whom prosecutor Lara Senatore had requested a 20-year prison sentence, was acquitted by the preliminary hearing judge for not having committed the crime. The 78-year-old pensioner was beaten and killed in the pine forest of Piandanna, and then set on fire in August 2023.
The sole defendant in the case is Antonio Luigi Fiori, a 51-year-old from Sassari, initially accused by Aurora Addis, a young woman who frequented both of them, as the killer. She subsequently made no further statements and died a few months later.
The accused is represented by Marco Palmieri, while Gianni Censori, Vittorio Delogu, and Michele Galia act as civil lawyers.
