Palio di Santu Bainzu, the king of the rings is the knight Gavino Manca

Seven loops out of three descents in the thrilling equestrian joust that enlivened via Mare in Porto Torres : the winner in the sixth edition of the Palio di Santu Bainzu was the knight Gavino Manca di Nulvi. A thrilling race on the back of the Sherican horse, pure emotion, a race and a faster classification time (45'',65) than the opponents who put on a show on the 350-metre long strip of sand, in front of a large audience participation.

On the podium four other winners, protagonists of an event to remember : in second place Massimiliano Oggiano from Tergu riding Portus (7 loops in 50'',25), in third place Emilio Francesco Settembrini from Santa Maria Coghinas on the back of Clara De S 'Ena (6 rings in 41'',17); fourth place for Antonio Fiori from Sennori (six loops in 43'',40) with the horse “Balente De Sulottu” and fifth place for Antonio Giovanni Liperi from Ploaghe with the horse “Ziu Briunca” (6 loops in 45'',64 ).

The winners take home the following prizes: 1,500 euros for the first classified, a thousand for the second, 600 euros for the third, 300 for the fourth and 100 euros for the fifth. A triumph of colors and suggestive acrobatics announced by the speaker Giuliano Marongiu, with the support of the historian and epigraphist Giuseppe Piras.

An event that began in the morning in Piazza Eroi dell'Onda with entertainment for children of the first Palio "Di li minoreddi" organized by Ludolandia. In the afternoon the race to the ring came alive after a long parade of costumes and the performances of the Flag-wavers and Musicians of the City of Candlesticks of Sassari, the Pariglie of the Giara Oristanese horse association, with couples in traditional dress from the various centers of the island and of the participating knights and amazons. Then over three hours of competition and emotions.

An event curated by the Folk Li Bainzini group of the Etnose association and financed by the Municipality, the Sardinia Foundation, the Region and sponsors. After the procession, the musical evening got underway in Piazza Eroi dell'Onda with a performance by the Li Bainzini Folk Group of the Etnos association and the Santu Matheu Folk Group of Chiaramonti, followed by the concert by the bands Ammerare and Mildred and a Dj set with Omar Dj.
