First step towards the renovation and redevelopment of Palazzo Columbano , with the acknowledgement by the Ragnedda Administration of the technical and economic feasibility project.

The building, located on Corso Garibaldi, is a historic building of architectural significance and considered "a symbol of community identity." The decision to purchase it by the Municipality dates back to 2021, with a vote by the City Council in December of that year for an estimated €450,000.

"Part of the Manlio Brigaglia Library's book holdings will return to the town center, along with the online university, currently housed on the outskirts," stated Michele Occhioni, the public education commissioner. "We will reconstitute," he said, "a small educational hub, bringing liveliness back to the town center with students, researchers, and readers who will find a hub for social life here. The frescoed ceilings, large windows, and elevator are a plus for the renovation, as is the outdoor area, which can be set up as a reading lounge in the garden and has some useful parking spaces."

Palazzo Columbano, according to architect Sechi's report, will therefore undergo "static consolidation and seismic testing, in compliance with current regulations, with the aim of redeveloping it and integrating it into the tourist services of Arzachena's historic center. Among the objectives set by the Administration, in addition to the conservative restoration of the Palazzo, is the use of the building to house a media library and a multimedia center dedicated to innovation, tourism, and culture for the Municipality of Arzachena. Regarding its functions, the project will improve the usability of services, increasing accessibility for historic center users and promoting the region and local products. Access must also be guaranteed for people with reduced mobility. Furthermore, the building must allow for flexible use, both for everyday use and during peak tourist periods."
