First in Sardinia, fifth in Italy: Cagliari thus ranks in the ranking for the increase in parcels delivered by Poste Italiane postmen in 2025 compared to the previous year.

The island's capital is growing by 46% compared to 2024 (about double the national average, which stands at 24%) and, in the special ranking, ranks fifth after Rovigo, Imperia, Novara, and Lucca.

Cagliari also dominates the regional rankings, ahead of Oristano, which recorded a 30% year-on-year growth, Sassari, on the third step of the podium with a 20% increase compared to 2024, Nuoro (9%) and South Sardinia (4%).

"This important milestone has been achieved thanks to the widespread distribution network, efficient distribution, and ongoing transformation of Poste Italiane's logistics network, which in Cagliari relies on a fleet of 89 green electric and hybrid vehicles, " Poste said. "In addition to traditional logistics, distribution relies on the Punto Poste network, consisting of over 18,000 collection points (commercial businesses) and lockers offering parcel collection and shipping services, 67 of which are in Cagliari, with extended opening hours. The Sardinian data is part of a profound transformation: in 2024, digital payments surpassed cash in Italy for the first time, accounting for 43% of total consumption. Growth continued in the first six months of 2025 (+6%), with smartphone and wearable payments increasing by 46%.
