After the three cases in San Gavino, West Nile fever virus has also appeared in Pabillonis and Mayor Marco Tuveri has immediately issued an ordinance to limit the spread of West Nile.
"A 71-year-old woman," the mayor explained, "is currently hospitalized in San Gavino, but her life is not in danger. We have received notification from the Medio Campidano Local Health Authority regarding a confirmed case in a person residing in the municipality."
From here, in the ordinance, the mayor provides a long list of behaviors to follow: "Stagnant water must be eliminated, saucers and containers must be emptied, tanks must be covered, and yards and gardens must be kept clean. Where it is not possible to cover containers, it is important to ensure water is changed or emptied at least weekly. Furthermore, fountains and pools not in use must be emptied or prevented from stagnating, yards and open areas must be kept free of weeds, brushwood, and trash, and landscaping and materials must be arranged to prevent water from pooling."
