In Pabillonis, there is great concern about the spread of West Nile virus and for the 71-year-old woman who contracted West Nile virus and has been hospitalized for several days at the Nostra Signora di Bonaria hospital in San Gavino Monreale.

For his part, Mayor Marco Tuveri is closely monitoring the situation and the patient's condition: "The lady remains hospitalized," he explains, "but she is slightly improving, and we hope she can recover as soon as possible and return home. As soon as I received notification of the case from the Medio Campidano Local Health Authority, I immediately issued an ordinance with the measures to be followed to combat the West Nile virus."

This is the fourth case overall in the Medio Campidano region: the first in Pabillonis, while the other three occurred in the San Gavino area. The first two occurred in early September within just over 48 hours and resulted in the deaths of the patients. The other person who contracted West Nile virus is out of danger: she has been discharged from the hospital and is in stable condition.
