Two areas located in the Ozieri countryside , with a total surface area of 15 thousand square meters, intended for illegal landfill : this is what the Forestry Corps staff discovered in recent days.

The investigative activity, which began in March with checks and inspections, allowed us to identify the presence of over 150 cars and vehicle carcasses, lying on land, a third of which is municipal property , used by a company that operates in the roadside assistance and car storage sector.

The poor state of conservation of the vehicles and the lack of adequate covering and waterproofing have exposed the soil to direct contact with highly polluting materials , such as battery fluids, engine oils, coolants, diesel, petrol and others.

Two people were investigated, mother and son, owners of the company, for the crimes of pollution and illegal occupation of public areas; the penalties provided for are arrest from six months to two years and a fine from two thousand six hundred to twenty-six thousand euros. The two areas were placed under seizure.

The operation is part of a series of checks that the Forestry Corps carries out throughout the region, aimed at combating environmental crimes.
