His name was Giovanni Antonio Bua, the grandfather from Ovodda who died on Friday, in the intensive care unit of San Francesco di Nuoro, following complications from a cerebral hemorrhage.
Remembering the 92-year-old is the Sardinian Transplant Association Odv, which on social media wanted to celebrate the gesture of generosity of the elderly man's family who, by authorizing the donation of organs, contributed to saving a life : «An organ in good condition – wrote the Odv - it will be transplanted and will allow a waiting patient to continue living . Confirming that generosity has no age. We express our deepest condolences to the family."
«We will never tire of thanking and applauding the commitment and the very high professionalism of the local coordinator for blood sampling and transplants of the PO San Francesco di Nuoro Pierina Ticca and of all the medical and nursing staff of the Intensive Care Unit», continues Odv.
Moved by the memory in his hometown, with a crowd that yesterday accompanied Tziu “Toni” (as everyone affectionately called him) towards his last journey, attending the funeral: «We are losing a symbol of our community – says the mayor Ilenia Vacca – a a decent man, who made generosity an essential element. It warms our hearts to know that his memory will remain even more indelible, restoring hope to those who suffered and will now have a rebirth. At this moment our thoughts are with the family members, to whom we extend our sincere closeness."
The mayor concludes: «Even in the recent past, Ovodda has been the protagonist of gestures of such great altruism, with families who, in times of pain, found the strength to give their lives to those who needed it. We are proud of the great sense of brotherhood that animates our people ."
