The first snow of the season has arrived in Sardinia. At least 10 centimeters of white blanket at 1500 meters above sea level in the territory of Fonni and partly in that of Desulo according to data from the BakuMeteo weather station, which also has several webcams that immortalize the snowfall.

The snow, which began to fall heavily this night, is accompanied by a strong mistral wind that is sweeping across the whole of Sardinia with peaks of 100 km/h in the Oristano area and 85-90 km/h in some areas of the north-western coast and on the reliefs. On state road 389, the Fonni-Desulo, where snow has whitened the road surface from kilometer 20 to kilometer 40, the Nuoro Highway Police is monitoring the situation, while the snowploughs and salt spreaders of the Province are operating on site: currently no critical issues have been reported.

The arctic front that reached Sardinia has caused temperatures to drop significantly: on the highest elevations of Nuoro, temperatures reached -5 degrees this morning, before stabilizing at -2 degrees. Thermometers also dropped in other areas of the island, with Nuoro at 3 degrees, Sassari at 6, Oristano at 8 and Cagliari below 10 degrees.
