The outbreak that broke out and "immediately isolated" in the Aou Surgical Clinic in Sassari is under "strict control". The patients are all double-dose vaccinated and positive for the Delta variant: they are fine, some of them have "modest" symptoms.

This is what the Aou of Sassari says, underlining that the situation in the surgical clinic "is under constant supervision and does not cause concern". Of the eleven positive patients, 4 are found in infectious diseases, the other seven are isolated in the surgical clinic: "All were given monoclonal antibodies, an excellent therapy that blocks the evolution of the disease", explains Franco Bandiera, health director of the Aou of Sassari.

Among health workers only one case of positivity, a health worker vaccinated with three doses who "is fine and has a high antiviral charge".

"We have some of the strictest corporate health surveillance protocols in the Sardinia Region", explains Bandiera, "unfortunately the virus has such peculiarities that it involves the entry into the hospital of patients (such as the gentleman who we believe to be the index case) who are in incubation phase and the molecular test does not immediately reveal the positivity that emerges after a few days ".

even the extraordinary Commissioner Antonio Spano confirms that the situation is “absolutely under control” and “completely different compared to a year ago when as many as eight wards were converted and 250 Covid patients were hospitalized in the most critical phase. Today we have only one patient in intensive care ”.

To date, there are 22 patients in the Covid infectious disease ward, 6 in sub-intensive therapy.
