Osilo, a letter from the faithful to Archbishop Soddu: "The meaning of Christian charity is being lost here."

A heartfelt letter signed by some faithful from the town of Osilo, addressed to the Metropolitan Archbishop of Sassari, Monsignor Francesco Antonio Soddu, urging him to hear their voices in a community "where the sense of Christian charity, participation, and solidarity in service to the little ones and the poor is being lost. Praying together risks becoming an empty form of worship performed only by a few pretentious people, locked in the enjoyment of their own well-being."
A request for a meeting "with a man from Sardinia and a person with a history of social and charitable commitment and sensitivity to healthcare issues," we read in the open letter , "because there is a tendency to look up to authorities, even ecclesiastical ones, from below, albeit with frustration and indignation."
The faithful urge Archbishop Soddu to act as a proper interlocutor for their testimony, which "comes from below," they emphasize, "while—and we understand this—we see a clergy, often young, who unfortunately cower in church and fail to see the stone in their shoe that is causing discomfort to the people."
