A large fire broke out this morning in Oschiri , on Via Umberto, on the outskirts of the town: the flames, which affected an area covered in Mediterranean scrub and pasture, came dangerously close to the houses, forcing the residents to leave in a hurry.

Firefighters and the Carabinieri responded to the scene to control the blaze. However, support from the barracelli and volunteer teams was also needed: extinguishing operations were complicated by the fact that the vegetation was already dry at this time of year and the fire was being fanned by the wind. The teams successfully controlled the blaze after several hours of work.

The causes are still uncertain.
