A seventy-year-old man was burned this evening while trying to put out a fire that developed from a short circuit in his home in via Asproni, in Orotelli . The fire broke out around 6.30pm.

The man, who lives alone in a two-storey house, became aware of the start of a fire resulting from a short circuit in an old socket next to the mattress, which immediately caught fire.

The old man tried in vain to intervene. A neighbor also came to his rescue, who convinced him to give up until the firefighters arrived and put out the flames.

Damage is limited to the second floor bedroom. The pensioner was transported by ambulance to the Nuoro hospital but it would not be serious.
