The curtain falls in Orosei on the Sardinia World Chess Festival , which provided a week of great entertainment, confirming the expectations of the eve.

In the final round, played yesterday, all attention was focused on the challenge between the Russian Ian Nepomniachtchi and the young Argentine talent Faustino Oro , still in the running for the podium together with the German Frederik Swane, the Indian Murali Karthikeyan and the Armenian Haik Martirosyan.

The tension in the final round was extremely high, especially for Oro, who arrived in Orosei aiming to earn the final norm to become a Grandmaster before the age of 13. A draw against Nepomniachtchi was enough for the young Argentine to reach the goal thanks to a performance above the required parameters, after having failed to achieve it in previous tournaments. However, the winner of Tournament A was Germany's Frederik Swane , who took home the first prize of 10,000 euros. Martirosyan and Nepomniachtchi followed, both with 7 points out of 9. Among the Italians, GM Lorenzo Lodici performed excellently, finishing eleventh overall and the best of the Italians in the competition.

In Tournament B, reserved for those under 2000 Elo, Georgia dominated with Shota Khodashneli, ahead of Tornike Tereteli and Zurab Gongliashvili. Young Italians Nikol Bogacheva and Matteo Meloni also performed well, both finishing in the top ten. In Tournament C, Algerian Belhadi Ilias won, ahead of Georgian Luka Natsauri and Italian Emanuele Carta. The event has gained strong international visibility, attracting streamers and industry scholars. During the awards ceremony, attended by the Bishop of Nuoro, Antonello Mura, director Roberto Mogranzini announced the festival's fourth edition, scheduled for May 2-9, 2027, once again at the ITI Marina Beach in Orosei. Sponsored by the Region and organized by SSD Emmedi Sport with UniChess, the festival brought together over 300 players from approximately 50 federations, with a foreign presence approaching 70%, confirming the event's growing international reach.
