Expressions of interest are now open to join the vaccination program against bluetongue for 2025: all sheep farmers whose establishments are located in the province of Oristano must send the request to the Animal Health service of the ASL 5 of Oristano by Monday 21 April. This was communicated by the Animal Health service itself, directed by Enrico Vacca, which published the notice addressed to all sheep farmers, animals that in recent months have been heavily affected by a new epidemic of bluetongue.

"Vaccination is a fundamental tool to protect our sheep heritage," says Anna Paola Corda, veterinarian of the Animal Health Service. " This is the best time to start the campaign, as there are currently no outbreaks of bluetongue in the area . The faster we do it, the more animals we vaccinate and the more we can achieve flock coverage."

The vaccination program will focus in particular on the BTV3, BTV4 and BTV8 serotypes, those most circulating in the area in recent seasons . To join the new vaccination campaign, breeders will have to fill out a membership form, available in all veterinary offices of the ASL 5 and on the website.
