Phones were dead, internet service was down, and half the city was cut off for hours. In Oristano, it was an evening of chaos and disruption for many residents, but also for workers and businesses, who experienced significant disruptions to their operations.
The first signs that something was wrong appeared in the early afternoon: blocked messages in chats, phones showing no signs of life. And then no internet connection. Problems were reported with several providers; for some, only landlines were blocked, while for others, mobile phones were also down.
The fixed-line infrastructure operator, FiberCop, announced that "the outage was caused by a power outage at a telecommunications exchange . Restoration efforts began in the early afternoon and will continue uninterrupted with the aim of resolving the problem as quickly as possible."
