A veritable earthquake shakes the Sartiglia less than a month before the race on Via Duomo.

Just hours before the selections at the Cort'e Baccas track, last night, during the riders' meeting, a part of the board of directors, led by president Ignazio Nonnis, resigned with immediate effect.

A terse message, forwarded late at night in the chat of the protagonists of the carousel – “Communication will follow” – officially sanctioned the breakup.

"My resignation is irrevocable," Nonnis clarified. Also resigning were vice president Emanuela Colombino, secretary Pasquale Sechi, and, for the time being, at least one councilor.

The timing is no coincidence. The resignations came immediately after news of the purchase of protective equipment spread, a decision that, while not mandating its use on the track, was perceived by many as a concrete step toward denaturing tradition. But that wouldn't be the only reason.

At this point, the most immediate effect of the crisis risks being reflected in the calendar: tomorrow's selections, which were supposed to determine the order of the knights in the jousts led on Sunday by the Farmers' Guild, with Daniele Mattu on Componidori, and on Tuesday by the Carpenters' Guild, led by Graziano Pala, are now seriously at risk.

The absence of the association's top leadership and the tense climate make the implementation of a key step for the organization uncertain, even though part of the board appears intent on moving forward with the program.
